  2. Hi, I've downloaded the latest trial version for mac and I'm having trouble autocoding interview data by question/paragraph styles. Is there a way to do that on the mac version? I understand that in the windows version, we can autocode it according to paragraph styles but I can't seem to find that option in the mac version. Thanks.

  4. Hello @Nicolas, Projects from newer major versions of NVivo cannot be opened in older major versions. For further information please refer here. Regards,
  5. Hello again @Galina, This might require further investigation of your project file. Please submit a support request form following: https://support.qsrinternational.com/nvivo/s/contactsupport/contact-support-form Regards,
  6. My student has created a Nvivo project on the newer Nvivo for Mac. I cannot open this project on my Nvivo 12, which my university purchased in 2019. Is there a way to open this file? I am not keen to spend over $500 to upgrade my Nvivo 12. How can it be that projects created on Mac and PC, and older and newer versions of Nvivo are not compatible? The files should be universal like .docx, .pdf, etc. Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks
  7. Canarik, thank you very much for your response. In fact, I double checked and made sure that item 002 is coded with "Graduate-Technical". You can see it in the attachment (image 1), where the system has found the file 002 when I clicked/opened "Graduate-Technical" node. We can also see all coding strips there. Image 2. It is a cell view of corresponding nodes, you are right. But now I included coding strips as well, and we can see that item 002 is coded properly under "Graduate-Technical" based on coding strips. So, it looks like item 002 is coded properly as "Graduate-Technica

  9. Hello everyone, Matrix Coding Query in Nvivo allows you to see coding intersections between two lists of items in your project. It is also possible to save your query results as a coding matrix to keep a record of the coding in your project at a particular point in time and review your coding. Let's say you created a Matrix Coding Query to see the attitudes towards commercial fishing by community. If you would like to further analyze positive attitudes of a community or multiple communities, you can save your query results as a coding matrix then save it as a coding structure. T
  10. I'm having the same issue to keen to know if there is a fix available.
  11. Hello everyone, I would like to share an article from Pahayahay & Khalili-Mahani published in Journal of Medical Internet Research. Title: What Media Helps, What Media Hurts: A Mixed Methods Survey Study of Coping with COVID-19 Using the Media Repertoire Framework and the Appraisal Theory of Stress DOI:https://doi.org/10.2196/20186 This article examined whether an increase in screen use is a source of or a relief for stress remains to be seen. Please feel free to share your opinion. Regards,
  12. Hello @Elena Beze, After installing Nvivo, you should have access to your files and folders unless you are using a 3rd party security software that enables sort of restriction. I would suggest re-starting your PC and re-installing Nvivo. If the issue persists, please submit a support request form following: https://support.qsrinternational.com/nvivo/s/contactsupport/contact-support-form Regards,
  13. Hello everyone, Nvivo does not see any of my files, I am trying to import docs or pdfs and it just does not see them in my pc. Can you please tell me what you think is going on? Kind regards, Eleni
  14. Hello @Galina, Based on the second visual in the attached file, the circled view is NOT a node view but a cell view of corresponding nodes. Therefore, it does not necessarily mean that you are really seeing the correct coding for the code "Graduate Technical". Moreover, I would suggest double checking your scope item for the text search query. In addition to that you can check your coding directly from the code "Graduate Technical". 1) Select the code "Graduate Technical" 2) Double-Click 3) In the Code View click PDF tab If you can see the file "0002 Addison.
  15. Hello @Georgia, When you would like to create a chart for coding, it will only provide case attributes by design. However, publication year is a file classification. In order to create a chart that shows codes and publication year of the corresponding file, you can use matrix coding query. Once you get matrix coding query results, just switch to chart tab. For further information please refer here. Regards,
  16. Hi, I am new to Nvivo. One of my file attributes is the year of publication of the file. I am trying to create a bar chart of one of my codes so I can track that code through time, but when I chart my code it only allows me to choose case attributes as my X-axis. Is there any way for me to chart my code by file attribute instead of case attribute? Thank you in advance!

  18. Hello @Caroline123, If your mistakes are only related to your demographic data, you do not need to make changes on your original survey data file. Just create a new excel file for your demographic data and import it as a case classification sheet. For further information please refer here. Regards,
  19. Hi all, I've just started working with NVivo10. I'm trying to start a new project. I want to save it as a *.nvp file, but I am not give that option - only the server project option shows. I think this might be a problem with the installation, but does anyone know how to solve the problem? I only need standalone projects, not server projects. Many thanks!
  20. I am also wondering the same as Heather above. Or is there any way to get around this? I have imported my survey data and completed coding on all my open ended questions. However, I have only just realised now that there are mistakes in my closed questions/ demographics - and they therefore were not made into case classifications on import I am aware that you cannot change survey data after it is imported, but I have completed all the open ended coding which took some time. So, I do not want to re-import the resolved survey data file. My question is – how can I resolved th
  21. Hello @CatBrandao, Although, it is hard to provide correct guidance without knowing your data and coding structure. I just want to be sure that you followed steps to see the number of cases. Assuming that you already assigned your cases to a case classification, once you get your matrix coding results, please follow below steps: 1) Right-click 2) Choose Cell Content>Cases Coded>Assigned Case Classification You should see the number of cases for each corresponding matrix cell. Hope this helps, Regards,

  23. Hello @helloworld, If you saved your project file while working with the trial version, you can open that file once you installed the licensed version. Hope this helps, Regards,
  24. Hi guys, Not much else to say. I can open NVivo and get to the little start screen where you choose between "Create a Project" and "Open a project." Selecting either of these options causes the full window to open and I get stuck with the spinning beach ball of death indefinitely, until I force quit. From the little start screen, I already checked for updates and NVivo confirmed it was up to date per this FAQ: https://support.qsrinternational.com/s/article/Is-NVivo-Mac-compatible-with-the-latest-Macbook-with-M1-Chip . I also came across a forum thread from last year directing peopl

  26. Hello everyone, I used the Free version of Nvivo and forgot to download some of the codes that I have used. Do you know If it is possible to recover this data if we purchase the premium version ? Thanks in advance,
  27. Hi to everyone! Firts time working with a large data set and having trouble with cases... Please help! I am currently working on a project that gathered data using an online survey, with several scales and 3 open questions. 1841 participants responded and I imported the all dataset to NVivo. I am analysing only the data of those participants who aswered to the open questions = 709. I created a set with these 709 in order to conduct queries on their coding and attributes. When I do a matrix query in this set, to see how many are female, male or other, I get 726... Any ideias on why
