  1. I'm going nuts trying to import my attributes from excell. I have followed the format requirements exactly as shown in the on-line help file. I have saved it as a text file, tab delimited. When I try to import, I can get an error message saying the headings aren't tabbed. I opened the text file, and the headings are tabbed. Anyone else experienced this problem or know how to overcome it? -Wayne Wayne E. Wright, PhD University of Texas, San Antonio
  2. Thanks for the reference to the previous forum on this topic. All our lab computers are set up to print to a lazer printer, and only a couple of students have had this "crash when opening a node" problem. So I don't think that would be it. I haven't been able to get help from QSR because I don't have the requisite serial number. I'm trying to get that from our site licsence people, but they are S l o w in responding. I'll let you know what i find out, eventually. Appreciate your help! -Wayne Wayne E. Wright, PhD University of Texas, San Antonio
  3. Pat, This is a great workaround. Thanks a million! I do hope though that the next NVivo 7 patch takes care of this problem. -Wayne Wayne E. Wright, PhD University of Texas, San Antonio
  4. One of my doc students in my NVivo class I am teaching ran into a major problem. She only had three nodes, but had spent all day coding several documents at them. Each time she tried to open one of these nodes, the program would crash (we'd get a warning saying the program would have to close down). We tried it on three different computers, and had the same results. We tried copying the NODES and then opening the copies -- same problem. Only the three NODE files caused this problem. She was able to open all of her other documents with no problems. Her document files were
  5. I and my 10 doctoral students are having the same problem where text in documents gets easily selected and moved around, particulalry when trying to highlight text for coding. This has been BEYOND frustrating! The undo function seems to save the day, but its S L O W and it doesn't return you to same spot as you just undid, and you have to find the spot again to make sure everything is back to normal. We are very nervous about what this is doing to our text files. Is there an easy fix for this? -Wayne Wayne E. Wright, PhD University of Texas, San Antonio
  6. Help! I am teaching NVivo 7 this summer to graduate students. I had them drag the coding bar to the bottom of the screen to prepare for coding, and for 2 of the students, the coding bar completely disappeared! I have tried everything to get the bar to reappear: unselecting and reselecting it from the view menu, restarting the program, restarting the computer. Nothing works. The coding bar appears gone forever? Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a solution? Also, we've had lots of problems of the NVivo 7 freezing up. We have a lab with 12 PCs, and they have all experienced this
