  1. Hello again Farhad, 1) Nvivo allows you to select and code regions in a PDF file. You may want to look at : https://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/procedures/basic_coding_in_documents_pdfs_externals_and_memos.htm 2) If your coding style consists extensive annotations, then I would suggest utilizing memos instead. A major advantage of memos is to be able to code its content. You may want to look at : https://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/concepts/about_memos.htm Hope this helps,
  2. Hello Farhad, Nvivo allows you too create an external for any sources that you can not import into Nvivo. You can find detailed information below (It belongs to Nvivo 11 but still valid for 12): https://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/procedures/create_externals_for_sources_you_cannot_import.htm However, regardless from your data type and research approach, I would not follow such a coding strategy especially for time efficiency and resource coherence. You can import your PDFs to Nvivo and code while you are reading, if you need to take notes you can use annotation f
  3. Hello Luci_2402, It is always the best practice to format your dataset (excel file), and collect your data accordingly. The most common format that Nvivo easily works is to put your participant ID on row so that each row represents a participant. Then put your variables on columns for both close ended and open ended questions. I attached a small sample file. Having your research data recorded in this format will allow you to benefit from Nvivo's auto-coding capability. You may get detailed information from the below link (I know that provided link is for Nvivo 11 but
  4. Hello Merve, Please note that data capture capacity on Capture extension is limited with Twitter's (or any other social media source's) data policy. Below you may find the details: The amount of data captured as a dataset by NCapture is determined by Twitter; this is because NCapture relies on Twitter's API (web connection to Twitter) to collect the data. Twitter’s API generally only provides Tweets from last 7 days. Depending upon how much data Twitter provides to NCapture, you may also sometimes see Tweets more than 7 days old getting captured. Please note older Tweets may no
  5. Hello Jamie, Please allow me to outline your project structure: You have 500 interviews in which participants were asked to answer two questions. You have imported your interview data into Nvivo and created cases for each participant. Then, you completed thematic coding process. If understood you correctly, it seems you have done everything perfectly. Now, considering your query it is not clear whether you would like to visualize each participant or frequencies of participants. Moreover, it is not clear whether your themes are exclusive to each question or not. Le
  6. Hello Oli, In order to find what you are looking for, please fallow below steps: 1) Open your project file. Go to File>Project properties then choose Stop Words on General tab. 2) Find "do" in Stop Words and delete it. Then hit Apply and OK. 3) Go Queries Tab and choose Text Search Query. 4) After selecting desired data location criteria, In text query box enter this exact phrase: "do no harm" ~1 Nvivo will list the occurrences of "do no harm" for you. Hope this helps,
  7. Hello Lisa, I am using version 12.6.0 with Catalina 10.15.6 on Mac Mac and dragging works just fine. I would suggest checking SW versions and trying to replicate whether same issue occurs with sample project or not. If it works with sample project then you might want to consider your original project data. Hope this helps,
  8. Hello Carolina, With the release of new Nvivo the way how Nvivo Transcription works has been changed. You may want to create a MyNvivo portal account first using below link: mynvivo.com Please also note that Nvivo transcription is a separate paid service. Hope this helps,
  9. Hello Ada, Please contact with Nvivo support so that they can have a look to your project file. Hope this helps,
  10. Hello Brett, Please contact with Nvivo support so that they can have a look to your project file. Hope this helps,
  11. Hello Israt, Unfortunately it is not possible to visualize both number of reference and cases together. However, using matrix coding query, you can create two separate matrix tables. One for coding references and one for cases. All you need to do is to put desired nodes on rows and each question on column. Once Nvivo created the matrix table you will have the option to see frequencies and switch between coding references and cases. Hope this helps,
  12. Hello Arneolavnygard, Please refer to below topic: Thus, it is always better to modify your transcribed data before importing to Nvivo. Although you mentioned that your research data is quite large, I would consider replacing "?" with a word or random text to allow Nvivo to find what you are looking for. Hope this helps,
  13. Hello CMC, In Nvivo same project data can be coded by multiple researches. However, this process does NOT create multiple set of codes. You may found detailed information below: https://help-nv.qsrinternational.com/12/win/v12.1.90-d3ea61/Content/projects-teamwork/import-items-from-another-nvivo-project.htm With regards,
  14. Hello QS, You may find below information useful. http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/procedures/recover_projects.htm Hope this helps,
  15. Hello Conwaypd, I could not have a chance to look at your project. However, the issue that you have mentioned is expected in projects where coders have saved query results since saved queries are also counted as codes. Therefore, please go to Search>query results folder, then delete all items. Hope this helps, With regards,
