  3. Hello, Thank you for contacting NVivo Support. You should be able to save the framework matrix to an excel format and open it outside of NVivo. Once you have finished running the query, you may save the query and add it to your project. Also, you may export the query results in excel format by following the steps below: Run the query In the results, right click Click on Export Node Matrix A window will appear Browse and select the location Name the file and click Save I hope this helps. Regards, Akshay
  4. Hi Carito, You can import data from different participants at different times. You can import responses from the same survey multiple times. When you do this, you can choose to merge into an existing dataset or create a new dataset. Refer to the link https://help-nv.qsrinternational.com/12/win/v12.1.84-d3ea61/Content/files/survey-monkey.htm Having separate spreadsheet can impact your analysis based on how you want to analyse the data. I would suggest you to try with smaller amount of data to see if keeping separate files suits you. I hope this helps. Kind Regards, Bhupesh
  5. Hi Lene, You can turn ON the Aggregation in the parent node to see number of nodes/files associated to the child nodes, in the Parent Node(without opening child nodes). Refer to the link https://help-nv.qsrinternational.com/12/win/v12.1.84-d3ea61/Content/nodes/aggregate-nodes.htm Kind Regards, Bhupesh
  6. Hi, It is not possible to convert/open a project to/in an earlier version of NVivo. So, you won't be able to open the project in NVivo 8. 9. Hi Charles, When editing the transcription text you will only be able to change the formatting of one transcript row at a time. You will need to select the text you want to format, selecting an entire row or rows of your transcript won’t allow you to select a new font size or style. If you are wanting to change the formatting of an entire transcript and haven’t done any coding to it yet a quicker way to do this might be to export the transcript out of NVivo, make any formatting changes required in Word or similar and then reimport the transcript. You can find information on exporting and importing transcripts at the following link: https://help-nv.qsrinternational.com/12/win/v12.1.84-d3ea61/Content/files/import-audio-video-transcripts.htm If you would like to request more transcription editing options in NVivo, we use an easy and user-friendly online tool called Canny to gather all our customer feedback. May I request that you click on the following link https://nvivo.canny.io/ and share your feature suggestion here by creating a post. You can also vote on posts created by other users. When you post or vote on a feature, you will start receiving notification via Canny on the planned/in progress/completed actions. Regards, Heather
  10. Hi, I believe a Matrix Coding Query will be helpful. You can add Respondents(Cases) as Rows and Questions(Nodes) as Columns of the matrix and run the query. The resulting Matrix will show number of common coding reference across each intersection of Nodes and Cases. Here is the detailed information on Matrix Coding Query: http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/procedures/run_a_matrix_coding_query.htm I hope this helps. Kind Regards, Bhupesh
  11. Hi Julie, At this stage, it is not possible to export or print Annotations in NVivo for Mac. Please feel free to raise a feature suggestion at https://nvivo.canny.io/ by creating a post. You can also vote on posts created by other users. When you post or vote on a feature, you will start receiving notification via Canny on the planned/in progress/completed actions. You can view all the annotations in Notes>Annotations folder. Kind Regards, Bhupesh
  12. Hi Peter, Coding the entire row will be fine because this will code all the codeable cells in a row at once. Note that this will create number of references based on how many codeable cells are there in the row. You can also code entire columns to relevant topic. Please refer to the link below to understand how you can use automatic coding for above purpose: http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/procedures/automatic_coding_in_dataset_sources.htm You can then run a Matrix Query between your Cases and Topic to find out what a student said about a particular topic. Manually coding each cell would definitely be more precise but it will involve a lot of work. Kind Regards, Bhupesh
  13. Hi Ruben, To try and resolve your issue, try merging your project into a blank new project. To do this: 1. In NVivo, create a blank new project. 2. Click the Import tab and the click the Project icon. The 'Import Project' dialog box appears. 3. Click Browse and navigate to and select your project file from the Desktop. 4. Click Import. Once the import finishes, see if this issue is resolved in this new project file, which contains your entire project data. If the issue still persists, can you please send us the project file by submitting a support request at https://qsrinternational.com/nvivo/contact-us/customer-support ? Kind Regards, Bhupesh
  14. Hi MRizakis, If you are wanting to see how you have coded a particular file you can do this by turning coding stripes or highlighting on. This will give you an indication of which portions of the file are coded to each code or case. You can find information on using coding stripes at the following link: https://help-nv.qsrinternational.com/12/win/v12.1.84-d3ea61/Content/coding/coding-stripes.htm If you are after a list of all the codes or cases you have coded a particular file at you can find this information by running a Group Query. The criteria you would select when doing this is to look for “Items Coding” and the change the Scope to Selected items and select the files you are interested in. You can find information on group queries at the following link: https://help-nv.qsrinternational.com/12/win/v12.1.84-d3ea61/Content/queries/group-query.htm Regards, Heather
  15. Hi Charles, It’s likely we would need to take a look at one of your files and transcripts to be able to investigate this issue. Can you please submit a support request at the following link and we will be able to investigate this further: https://bit.ly/2CFUHRk Regards, Heather
  16. Hi MauCap, You can find more information about the REFI-QDA project exchange format at the following link: https://www.qdasoftware.org/products-project-exchange/ Information on the current limitations when importing or exporting from NVivo can be found at the following link: https://help-nv.qsrinternational.com/12/win/v12.1.84-d3ea61/Content/projects-teamwork/refi-qda standard.htm NVivo does support exporting attributes. How these are handled when importing a QDPX file into another application such as ATLAS.ti would depend on how they have chosen to implement the standard. Regards, Heather
  17. Hi RShort, We will need to get some information from your computer to be able to troubleshoot this issue. Can you please submit a support request at the following link: https://bit.ly/2CFUHRk Regards, Heather
  18. Hi Maria, You should be able to run a matrix coding query to cross tabulate your nodes. After running the query, you should be able to change the cell content to display the number of cases coded to the intersection instead of displaying the number of coding references. To do this, select “Cases Coded” from the Cell Content section of the Matrix tab. It’s unusual that you are receiving the message that the query is invalid, so if the above approach doesn’t work for you can you please get in contact with us at https://bit.ly/2CFUHRk as we may need to take a look at your query criteria or your NVivo project. Regards, Heather
  19. Hi QDiddy, One option you can try is to use a matrix coding query and set the cell content to display coding presence. See this link for more detail on display options for matrix coding queries: http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/procedures/work_with_the_content_of_a_node_matrix.htm Hope this helps, ^NVivoSup
  20. Hi Alex, Can you please submit a support request here: https://qsrinternational.com/nvivo/contact-us/customer-support and include some screenshots of the query criteria you are using so that we can investigate. ^NVivoSup
  21. Hi LMG, To resolve this issue can you please install the latest update to NVivo by clicking File > Help > Check for Software Updates. 22. Hi Mel, Currently, NVivo supports importing data directly from SPSS as a classification sheet only. This is the reason you are not prompted to choose open ended questions and you are also not able to perform any coding. To be able to choose and code open ended question, you'll need to export data from SPSS as an Excel file and import that excel file into NVivo. Refer to the link below for information on importing datasets in NVivo: https://help-nv.qsrinternational.com/12/win/v12.1.82-d3ea61/Content/files/datasets.htm I hope this helps. Kind Regards, Bhupesh
  23. Hi Mathilde, At this stage, I am sorry to inform you that paragraph based autocoding isn't available in our Mac version. You can only Autocode by Speaker in documents. We use an easy and user-friendly online tool called Canny to gather all our customer feedback. May I request that you click on the following link https://nvivo.canny.io/ and share your feature suggestion here by creating a post. You can also vote on posts created by other users. When you post or vote on a feature, you will start receiving notification via Canny on the planned/in progress/completed actions. Kind Regards, Bhupesh
  24. Hi Amir, A. You can right click on a file, click Export>Export Document and then tick 'annotations to export Annotations along with the file. You can edit the exported file if you just want to keep annotations. You can also use the following workaround export all of the annotations in your project to a single Microsoft Word file: 1. Click the 'Collections' folder 2. Select the 'All Sources' search folder under 'Search Folders' 3. Select all of the sources in the List View 'Ctrl+A' 4. Right-click on the highlighted sources and select 'Code Sources->Code Sources At New Node' 5. Select a name and location for this node and press OK This will create a node with the content of all of your sources, including their annotations. To export this file follow the steps below: 1. Right-click on the node created in step 5 above and select 'Export->Export Node' 2. Change the option in 'Export' to 'Reference View' 3. Ensure the 'Annotations' checkbox is checked 4. Press OK and specify a name and location for the exported Word file This exported node will export all of the content from that node including annotations. Now open the exported file in word and scroll down to the end of the document where the heading 'Annotations' is displayed and delete everything above it. This will leave you with a Word file that contains all the annotations in your project. Another method is to select all the annotations in a source file by pressing Ctrl key and clicking the numbers under the 'Item' column in 'Annotations'. You can then right click and press 'Copy' to copy all the annotations and then paste them into a Word or Text file outside of NVivo 11. B. This error NVivo is unable to generate a report on a large number of items(>200). You can reduce the number of items such as nodes or sources, you would like to run the report on, to fix this error. If you are running a predefined report, make sure to select and reduce the number of items to less than 200. I hope this helps. Kind Regards, Bhupesh
  25. Hi Simone, It sounds like you are working on a standalone NVivo Project. You will only see the option to add users to project groups if you are working in an NVivo Server (NVivo for Teams) project. You can still collaborate in a standalone NVivo project, but the process is different, and you will not need to assign users to project groups. There are a couple of different strategies for working as a team in a standalone project and you can find some information on these at the following link. http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/concepts/about_teamwork.htm Regards, Heather
