  1. Hi, In order for you be able to treat the images in the pdf file as each file, you will will need to extract the images manually outside of NVivo. Unfortunately, you will not be able to extract images from the pdf in NVivo and treat the images as seperate files. Once you have imported the pdf file, NVivo treats the pdf as one file. ^AK

  3. Hi Amir, You should be able to import reference from Mendeley in NVivo and link to the already coded pdf’s in NVivo Windows. Unfortunately, you will not be able to link reference to the pdf’s in NVivo Mac due to Mac limitations. However, you can try the workaround by importing the references and link to the pdf’s in NVivo Windows and converting the Windows project to NVivo Mac. Please see the link to convert project in the link: https://bit.ly/2zWOfDr ^AK

  6. Hi, I have attached a corrupt dummy project with this email to help you recover the project from the nvb file. Download and save this file to your computer and then attempt to open it in NVivo. You will be presented with an option to recover from a project recovery file. Select your nvb file to recover the project. ^AK NV11CorruptProject(for restoring project backups) (8).nvp

  8. The best way to store a summary for a source file is to create a memo and link it to the source file. Please see the link below for more information: http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/procedures/add_delete_and_manage_memo_links.htm Alternatively, you may also add a description for the source file by right clicking on the source, click on project properties from the context menu and add the description. ^ AK
  9. ‘See also links' are not available in NVivo for Mac. I have raised the matter with our Product Manager who collates all feature requests and prioritizes them accordingly. However, I am unable to specify if and when this feature will be available. You may like to explore hyperlinks, memos and annotations which are available in NVivo for Mac. Refer to the links for more information: http://help-nv11mac.qsrinternational.com/desktop/procedures/add_delete_and_manage_hyperlinks.htm http://help-nv11mac.qsrinternational.com/desktop/concepts/about_memos.htm http://help-nv11mac.qsrinternational.com/desktop/concepts/about_annotations.htm ^AK
  10. We will need more information in regards to this issue as this is an unexpected behaviour in NVivo. Please submit a support request for using the link https://bit.ly/2Fpkdxl and we should be able to assist you further. ^AK
  11. You should be able to export the nodes list in a hierarchical order to excel format. Please see the link for more information and steps to exports nodes below: https://help-nv.qsrinternational.com/12/win/v12.1.55-d3ea61/Content/nodes/export-nodes.htm#Exportthecodebook ^AK
  12. Hi Marlous, This issue has been raised with our technical team and the issue is being fixed. We will have a fix for this issue soon. In the meantime, the work around is that you can login into SurveyMonkey outside of NVivo and export your results to Excel format. You will then be able to import the Excel file in NVivo. ^AK
  13. The Explore Diagram feature is available in NVivo 12 Pro. The reason Explore diagram button is greyed out is because you may not have selected the source/case/node. In order to be able to create Explore Diagram, you will need to first select the source/case/node and then create an explore diagram. Please see the link for more information on Explore Diagram below: https://help-nv.qsrinternational.com/12/win/v12.1.55-d3ea61/Content/vizualizations/explore-diagrams.htm ^AK
  14. Generally speaking, installing LibreOffice should not affect the process of importing .txt file in your projects as NVivo Mac uses a different version of Libreoffice that is already packaged with NVivo application. However, you can install LibfreOffice and use it to convert your .txt file to .odt format and then import in NVivo. The import process should be quicker ^AK

  17. Hi Sanjana, We are aware there is an integration issue with NCapture, this error message that you are receiving is a result of this issue. This is due to a block by Facebook. We are working to resolve the issue with Facebook, but unfortunately their turnaround times can take up to eight weeks. As soon as this issue has been resolved we will advise you. We apologise for any inconvenience in the meantime. The issue can include: Cannot capture wall posts for a page as a dataset. Cannot capture public group posts as a dataset even as a public group Admin. Twitter is not affected. Users can capture Facebook pages as PDFs using NCapture. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Kind regards, QSR Support
  18. Hi Lily, Can you please send a request to our account team via the link below, including details of the license that you wish to upgrade: https://qsrinternational.com/nvivo/contact-us/contact-form Kind regards, QSR Support
  19. Hi cgev, Currently there is no direct way to do this in NVivo, however it may be possible with a Matrix Coding query. The query can be set with columns being your 36 nodes and rows as your responses. As the responses are just text at the moment, you will need to make them somehow a project item, such as a node. Once the query is run, you can display if the item in a row is coded to a particular node (column) by right clicking on the matrix and from the menu selecting Cell Content > Coding Presence. These query results can also be exported to an Excel file. For more information on matrix coding queries, see the following help link: http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/procedures/run_a_matrix_coding_query.htm Hope this helps.
  20. Hi Sarah, Once your license expires, you will no longer be able to open your project on the computer you installed the Software on unless you enter a new valid license key. The project is not lost when the license expires or is changed. You will be able to access NVivo and then open the project if you decide to purchase a new license key. Please check the link below for pricing. https://qsrinternational.com/nvivo/products Note that our latest version is NVivo 12 and you can open your NVivo 10 projects in NVivo 12. Kind Regards, Bhupesh
  21. Hi Charlie, You can consider using Framework Matrices to achieve this. Framework matrices provide a way to summarize or condense your source materials in a grid that has rows for case nodes (for example, people you interviewed) and columns for theme nodes. Refer to the link below for more information: http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/concepts/about_framework_matrices.htm You may want to use Auto Summarize feature in Framework Matrices to fill up the matrix cells automatically with coded text. Refer to the link below: http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/procedures/work_with_framework_matrices.htm#Automatically_create_summaries_from_coding I hope this helps. Kind Regards, Bhupesh
  22. Hi, Sorry, there doesn't seem to be any faster way to get the page numbers. However, you may consider opening your source and turning on Coding Stripes for the desired node to quickly identify coded text. I hope this helps. Kind Regards, Bhupesh
  23. To change the default save location, please copy the project to Google drive and open it from there. Then edit the project and click Save to save the project to Google Drive. These steps should make Google Drive as your default save location. Note that we recommend that you pause syncing while working on your projects from Google Drive to avoid project corruption. Refer to our FAQ below for more information: http://qsrinternational.com/nvivo/support-overview/faqs/what-do-i-need-to-be-aware-of-when-sharing-or-stor Kind Regards, Bhupesh
  24. Hi, It is correct that you export a parent node, the names of child nodes don't appear in the export. You can export node hierarchy to see nodes and child nodes. This can be achieved by right clicking on a node, clicking Export and clicking Export List. I hope this helps. Kind Regards, Bhupesh
  25. Hi Jenni, Could you please restart your computer, then relaunch NVivo and see if NVivo is able to recognize your NCapture files? Note that NCapture files can't be opened directly from File Explorer. So, you do not need to assign any default app for NCapture files. Kind Regards, Bhupesh
