  1. Hi, Bonjour Bhupesh Could you please tell me what lexical database NVivo use (stemmed words, synonyms, generalisations etc.) for French language? This information is highly useful and precious to us... ! Merci. Kind regards. Didier (Montréal).
  2. Wow ! It's not a very intuitive way to get this information. But for now... Re-Wow! Thanks a lot / Merci Bhupesh. Didier Montréal Québec.
  3. Hi, Bonjour… My data: few videos. A group of people is filmed. I have to code in a specific node all the extracts during which a specific person, speak, act, exchanges with others. I don’t know yet if I will code the timespans (transcription) or directly the videos (transcripts) timelines. The information I want to obtain is the sum of all extracts coded in terms of duration in this node. I can’t find any query or 'explore' tools to get this information in NVivo 11 (Mac or Windows version). Help would be appreciated. I thank you for this. Reference 1 - 4,41% Coverage [0:10,8 - 0:20,3] / Reference 2 - 4,27% Coverage [0:28,0 - 0:37,2] / Reference 3 - 13,68% Coverage [0:50,2 - 1:19,7] / Reference 4 - 15,68% Coverage [1:37,1 - 2:10,9] Total of duration ??? (of coded timespans or timeslines in this node). I can't use coverage information (x% of video duration), the observation is on a little part of the video. Didier.
  4. Susans At every time you import in NVivo an interview realized with Robert, you immediately create a node, a “case” node that codes that entire source content. So, for example, you will get 3 interviews (sources) with Robert and also create three nodes for each interview (Robert1, Robert2, Robert3). In your “cases” folder, you could create a new node named Robert. In the properties of this new (empty) node, you could select “aggregate”. You drag all Robert’s nodes (Robert1, and 2…) under this new node. You know have one node about your case (Robert) and three or four children case nodes for each interview with Robert. The new node Robert aggregates all the children nodes content. All what Robert has said is saved in this “master node” (for every meeting). You are now able to create attributes and select values for information will never change with Robert (sex, age, etc.). In child nodes (Robert1, Robert2…) you only have to create and complete attributes which are specific to this particular interview (Interview number = 2 ; feeling about the program two months after the beginning = agree, etc.). Is my English understandable on this warm Saturday night ??? I hope this can help you. Didier.
  5. Christian, Perhaps it could be useful for you to learn that you can also export all nodes contents in html format. That's a very useful way to share some of our results. (right clic on a node, and "export"). Hope it helps. Didier. Nota: si vous désirez davantage de précisions, vous pouvez toujours me rejoindre par mail ou téléphone. Didier (Montreal).
  6. Hi, It seems to me that the best for you is to use file/import project tool. You could open your master project and then import one of your projects copies, and then... another one. etc. It's very useful. You can read more about that, in Help or Forum sections... (import project). I hope it helps... Didier.
  7. Christian, I mean, you can select all child nodes from a "parent" one. Right clic on this selection and then select "copy". After that... right clic on the parent node and select "merge into selected node". All contents from child nodes will be added in the parent node. Is that close from what you first expected? To me, using sets is also a good solution. Au plaisir, Didier.
  8. Hi Christian, You could also regurlarly copy and merge selected children nodes in parent node. It will be a "manual" way to aggregate nodes... Didier (QSR trainer in Montréal) Si vous souhaitez discuter de cette option, vous pouvez aussi me joindre au 514 529 4073. Bonne journée.
  9. Westie, You select your child node and drag it to the tree node folder (in navigation view). I hope it helps. Didier.
  10. Joana, I hope you could find help here... http://forums.qsrinternational.com/index.php?showtopic=191 Or here... http://www.qsrinternational.com/support_fa...l.aspx?view=259 Good luck (if you still meet this problem, you could send a request for support at QSR). Didier. Montréal
  11. Bonjour Duncan, It's a simple coding query. so... as I said, I only select "search for content coded at" (node "follow up"), for any case where Gender = female and then ask this query in set "Montreal" (shortcuts with my interviewes from Montreal). Then in query options, I have created results in a new node (spread = none). I run this search and get 12 references for 12 sources, each reference in my resulting node are 100 % coverage (In this result node, all the content of the interview is displayed... even if only few parts are coded in "follow up" node"). That's exactly the problem. NVivo display this result-node like I could I have select in Query option "spread to... entire source". I get the same result for my NVivo7 project and for this project converted in NVivo8. I started a compact and repair... but got no change. I have also been in Tools options to see if any default setting have changed, but it seems not. That's all I can explain (and understand). If I don't get or find any answer, I will submit this problem to QSR support. Thank you again for your help. Have good time. Didier
  12. Hi, Recently, I tried a coding query search (search for content coded at “follow up” tree node, for any case where Gender = female) and then, in query options, I have created results as a new node… When I got my results (or open this “result” node) I realized that all the content of some sources were there. The problem is… not all the content of these sources is coded in “follow up” node (of course, only few references are there). When I open a source which is shown as fully coded in my result node, I can see (coding density) that there is only few extracts which are coded in “follow up”. So… could someone have any idea about what happened!? Why all the content of my interviews are shown in this query. I am use to work with Nvivo (since 7 years) and this never happened before! I will appreciate your help. Didier, Montréal.
  13. You could cut (or copy) your child node and then use "merge into selected node" instead of "paste" (right clic). I hope this help. Didier.
  14. Stephannie, You could "lock" your documents by setting them as "read only". The selected text will not be able to move around even if you are too... quick! Didier.
  15. Suzy... You can only set up attributes on cases (not on sources). So, first, all your sources must be created as cases (select all face to face, telephone and email sources and then right click... "create as case"). Cases are nodes. You can go on node tab, then clik on "cases" and you will find all your (new) cases. You can right click on one of them and then select "case properties"... and then "Values". Here you can set to your case some attribute values... (you could also set up your values by opening case book. Menu bar/tools/case book/open case book). Then you can create a matrix with attributes values... (query/matrix coding/.... select rows... attributes... "emails", "telephone", "face to face" and don't forget... Add to list... Select columns, your nodes, etc.). I hope this can help. Didier. Montreal (didierdupont@fastmail.net)
