  1. Hi, I use NVIVO 12 plus and I have 14.000 posts from the Municipality web-service Citizens suggest, where citizens suggest what municipality should do. Post mostly include suggestions for repairing of the roads, cutting the grass, cleaning the snow, improving playgrounds, enable more parking, etc. The language of these posts is not one of those supported by NVIVO so auto-coding will not work, I suppose. So if anyone had a similar situation (large number of short texts, manual coding is impossible), what are the best steps for finding useful info? I can do word frequency and find most used words, maybe I can code them and then group them together in the same nodes (like roads, street, asphalt, bumps, etc) and then find areas of interest by the citizens. Does NVIVO have any other useful functions fur such a case? Thank you for any advice. Best Mitja
  2. Hi, I am trying to do what is explained in your help file: "Analyze the most frequently used words in a particular demographic. For example, analyze the most common words used by farmers when discussing climate change You could do a coding query to gather all content coded at climate change and at nodes with the attribute farmer—then select the result node as the criteria for the Word Frequency query." So I have 2500 email texts - cases , with attribute "type" and its values "error", "suggestion", "comment". I would like to do a word frequency just on cases where attribute type=error. First I do Query/Coding/Selected items and select Cases/My cases (all 2500 of them). Then I set criteria: Coded at/ Any case where/Survey Respondent:Type equals value Error, and use Spread to Entire Source. I do Run Query but I get all the 2500 results without any "filtering"/criteria. What am I doing wrong? Thank you Mitja
  3. Hi, is there a way to make a word frequency query, in the results found a frequency/count of a specific word and the run another word frequency, but just withing those cases, that have the first word in it. Example: I have imported 2500 emails to cases, and run a word frequency. There is 300 counts with the word "help". Now I want to check if within the cases with the word "help" there are those with the word "administrator". Or should I use matrix coding in some way? Thank you Mitja
  4. Anything new after 3 years. This same functionality is still needed :-) Regards Mitja
  5. Great, thank you Regards, Mitja
  6. Dear NVIVO team, could you please implement a function that would enable zoom while reading a pdf source by using CTRL+mouse scrool Thank you Mitja NVIVO 11 pro for windows
  7. Thanks QSR, but I like it when I import as author and year. :-) And it would be very nice if the results from query would be able to show additional columns. Or at least that in the internals list one could add more columns, like View/List view/Customize Current view and then add PDF Properties/Attribute Values/Title. Regards Mitja
  8. Hi, using text search query, a user gets predefined columns in results. I would also like to see a title of the papers in the results list since my sources are named by authors and year (imported from Zotero). Is that possible? Thank you Mitja PS: In fact, I can't see the source/paper title in the internal list as well (imported and author-date selected as a name), though PDF Properties/Attribute Values show correct Title?
  9. BTW one more thing. Using the suggested solution, the search query finds ... i. During voting .... or ... i) In the voting ... And it shouldn't. It looks like the hyphen or dash is causing problems? Mitja
  10. Wow, thank you, yes this did the trick. But I am suggesting, that the solution would be different since I in this case is not a single word, it is connected to the second word voting with a hyphen. Maybe you should implement that if I use it like this "i-voting", then this is counted as one word. Regards Mitja
  11. Hi, I am using text search query in nvivo11 for windows. I am using exact matches search option searching for: i-voting. The results are shown here (one of the sources). Underlined words are marked as those found by the query: Remote e-Voting: Voting is within the voter's sole influence, and is not physically supervised by representatives of governmental authorities (e.g. voting from one's own or another person's computer via the internet (i-voting), by touch-tone telephones, by mobile phones (including SMS), or via Digital TV, or at public open-air kiosks — which themselves are venues and frames for different machines, such as PCs or push-button voting machines, with or without smart card readers). Why isn't i-voting as a whole search term one of them and other (just) voting words skipped, since they are not the exact search term? Thanks for the reply Regards Mitja
  12. Hi, is it possible to show a column in Externals view with the url (attribute) of an external source (I import them from Zotero) and use it as a link to open an external source url in browser. thanks Mitja
  13. Hi, it is not a specific NVIVO issue but still. When you do lit review, you find a first interesting article or a few of them and put them in NVIVO (I use Zotero) and start thoroughly reading them and coding. Maybe do some analysis as well. But then you find new articles that you have to add, but do not want to destroy existing work in NVIVO project. So how do you do it? How do you remove duplicates-problem. Do you re-run queries, etc. What are the best tactics? (where can I read about that) Thanks. Mitja
