  1. Hello everyone, If your cases have multiple characteristics of the same kind, you might need to assign multiple attribute values of the same attribute. Let's say your research participants (cases) have multiple roles. Since only a single attribute value can be assigned to a case, you can create another attribute with the same values. Role 1 , Role 2 etc. I hope this helps, Regards,

Hello everyone, NVivo allows you to see spread of coding accross cases and demographic variables. The Crosstab Query tool provides you spread of coding for all values of selected attributes. However, in some instances you might want to focus on certain attributes and their values to decide next step(s) in your research. In this video I tried to show how to use Matrix Coding Query to see number of participants for selected attribute values of interview participants. I hope this will be helpful. Regards,
  3. Hello, I have an unusual problem and not sure if anyone can help. I have spent a number of weeks coding a large survey data set contained in a spreadsheet that has two open ended questions and a number of demographic attributes, including year of collection. I have finished the coding and need to track trends in the data. The data is pretty much evenly distributed across four years but when I chart the number of data segments coded by year, it tells me that 62% came from 2019 and that isn't possible. When I chart the distribution across years for individual codes it tells me the same thing. I'm not sure if something has gone wrong with the attributes in the original files, but the spreadsheet still shows the same number of items for all years. It only appears an issue with one question, the second question shows are relatively even distribution across the years. It's almost like it is doubling up somewhere. Can anyone please assist? Thanks, M.
  4. Hi, I would like to limit the sources displayed in an Explore Diagram by setting a certain attribute value (say I only want to see the papers in a reference collection of a certain year that all have been coded with a particular node). Is there a way to achieve this? Thanks for looking at this Regards, Robert
  5. Apologies if the answer to this is in your extensive Help and online tutorials - but I've looked and so far been unable to find an answer. I'm classifying nodes which represent my interview participants. I want to import demographic data for each participant (age, income, education level etc). This info is in Excel, but during data entry was entered into the spreadsheet as a number rather than the value (ie Education level had 5 possible responses (1,2,3,4, or 5) which correspond to 1= up to Year 10, 2=Year 12, 3=TAFE etc). I want to import the data from this spreadsheet, but want it to be appear (under Attribute Value) in NVivo using the appropriate education level not the number that was used in the spreadsheet. I can see that under New Attribute you can specify the Value, but I don't want the Value to be 1,2,3,4 or 5 - I want it to be 'Up to Year 10', 'Year 12' etc. Can I import the data as is (ie as numbers) and then change it to the 'descriptive' attribute value that I want to use in NVivo? Or do I have to make the changes in my original Excel spreadsheet? Many thanks Andrea
