Hello, all-- I'm using NVivo 12 Plus. I'd like to code data from a spreadsheet with NVivo and then export those codes with their associated case classification as a spreadsheet, preferably with both the name of the code and the coded text. It appears that this would be possible using the Coding Summary by Code Extract and adding the Case.Classification.Name field, but my exports have this field blank. At the moment I have one spreadsheet with the first column in the spreadsheet stored as a Case Classification. Is it possible to create an extract that would associate the Case Classification with the codes using spreadsheet data? If not spreadsheet data, would it be possible for individual files, like .pdfs or .docx documents? I'm willing to consider other workarounds, as well, but I do need to get the data out of NVivo because I'll need it for multivariate analyses. You can see the blank classification field below:
I have imported a data file into NVivo 12 Plus from SPSS. The data file contains both demographic info and qualitative responses to questions for respondents organised by id number. I have two problems: 1. I have specified it as a case classification, but it doesn't ask me which questions are open-ended and which are closed-ended as per all the guidance I can find, and I'm not convinced it has formatted it correctly 2. I am unable to do any coding (a coding query is returning no results) because it doesn't seem to be recognising the qualitative data as text I'm only a novice at NVivo so I have no doubt I'm probably doing a number of things 'wrong' but I'd be grateful for some help. Here is a snip of my NVivo screen:
The two options for cluster analysis appear to be Source and Node. Is it possible to do a cluster analysis for sources that I've grouped using case classification attributes? For example, let's say School 1, School 2, School 3, ... n each have a # of sources (records, interviews, etc.). I made these sources into cases, then assigned the names of schools as case classification attributes (so School 1 is the attribute value for all its sources and so forth). I want to see which schools (= its collection of sources) have similar coding.
Hello everyone, I am doing analysis of multiple data sources that were generated from the same participants over a period of time. Now what I am trying to do is classifying my participants as cases to be able to track behavior changes during a semester. The data sources that I used were focus group, in-depth interview 1 and 2, and reflective learning journal. Is there a way that I can make nvivo recognize the same participants in different data sources instead of treating them as different people? Thanks in advance :-) Adel
