Hello Could you tell me how I can run a query or report that could give me all the coding (node names and actual references per row) which I applied to a given column/field in the dataset? My dataset looks like this: ID Q1 Q2 Q3 1 text text text 2 The ID is not the participant ID (I didn't think I needed that because I had the line ID), it's the line ID, so when I view my dataset, it allows me to see it in full view, or just view by one ID (form) where answers to all questions under that ID are listed. I coded the data for Q1 and could not find a way to query all coding for that column. I then read that I need to create a case node for each question, which I have done. Is there a way now to do what I need, i.e. run a query or report that could give me all the coding (node names and actual references) which I applied to Q1 in the dataset? Thank you very much in advance!
Hi, I am a new user of NVivo 10 for windows. I want to use Nvivo for qualitative analysis of around 30 interview transcripts. Most of these interviews are focus group/ multi-interviewee interviews with around 10 questions and some of the interviewees attended more than one interview. After the analysis, I may want to retrieve all of the responses from the male(female) or active(less active) interviewees for a certain question. In a transcript with 3 interviewees, how can I differentiate the interviewees in accordance with their identities (e.g., gender, level of activity, etc). Any suggestions? I read about case nodes and autocoding, but the transcripts are not formatted with “headings”. Would it still be possible for me to use “Attributes/values” in classification? If it is possible, can I retrieve the references mentioned above (with identities/attributes)? In short, how should I deal with focus group interview transcripts if I want to differentiate the identities of each interviewees in the same interview transcripts. Looking forward for your advice. Thank you.
Once I have created a framework matrix, e.g., ExampleMatrix, and have started filling it with case nodes as rows and nodes as columns, how can I obtain a list, or a set of all the case nodes that are used in ExampleMatrix? I know it is possible to create a search folder that would contain all case nodes used as rows in framework summaries. But how do you limit the search folder to a given framework matrix (and not all of them, because I have created more than one)? I have tried to find a suitable query, but to no avail. I thought that I could create a set with ExampleMatrix, and then create a query to find case nodes that are included in the set. But the set thus created is not searchable. I understand that I could have created a set right at the beginning, and put in that set all case nodes that I wanted to use as rows in ExampleMatrix. I did not do so (I actually ended up adding case nodes to ExampleMatrix progressively), and now I wish I could easily view a list of all my case nodes that are part of ExampleMatrix. Of course, one can see a list of case nodes included in ExampleMatrix by opening the matrix's properties, but there is not much printing or handling that you can do with it.
I want to do something similar I saw in NVIVO 10 sample. More precisely, I notice in the sample "environmental change down east" that in the case node, that when I open it, I only see answers, I believe this is the result of interviews autocoding (paragraph style), but I'm not sure. I tried to do something similar but whenever I open one of my case nodes, I see entire interview with questions (heading 1 and 2). What I want is a sum of answers for each case, as a case node(entire interview). This is particular important because when I do a word frequency query I got as most frequent words those from questions. I hope I could been clear. Sorry for my broken English Thanks, Tiago
