  1. Hi, i have started analysing my interviews (in transcript form) and every time i try open a node to view my codings under that node, it is coming up as an error, telling me ,"the table cell capacity is exceeding in coding file...please update or uncode the file". how can i fix this? i really need to see what quotes i have coded under that node for the different transcripts i have already done!! thanks nvivo problem.docx
  2. Hi, I'm wondering how to copy codes/nodes from another computer? Apparently this is possible since my previous colleague did this but I do not understand how. I should copy already existing nodes & codes from another computer to my computer. How do I do this? Grateful for all help I can get!
  3. Hi, Any advice on how to share coding of a document (currently a source) with a colleague who does not use NVivo. Is there any way of exporting the document, showing the highlighting and node coding, like you can see with 'highlighting' and 'coding stripes' when working on a source? I have managed to export the whole document with highlighting, but no codes, or exporting all the text that is coded but not the names of the nodes they are coded to. Many thanks,
  4. Hi Thanks in advance for any help provided I feel pretty lost in this endevour as NVivo has many, many options and I'm not sure which one I need to take. I have manually produced codes for each of 9 focus group sessions, which I've laid out in 9 separate excel spreadsheets. There were between 6 and 8 of the same people in each focus group. As the example below shows, each spreadsheet is therefore made up of many rows, with each row containing a name, an illustration in the next cell, with the next cell containing the code and then the next one contains a memo/note re' this illu
  5. Hello. I have imported 10 pdfs as my source data (internal source) and have gone through each pdf and coded various terms at a node (I have 100 nodes). Is it possible to find out how many times each of the 100 nodes appear across all pdfs? I am looking for something similar to below: Code No. of times code appears across all source pdfs -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. user interface 21 2. technical 17 (codes 3 to 99 excluded to be concise) 1
  6. I have a very long document of data and I'm trying to determine how two of us can determine where the other has stopped coding the data? I keep looking for a symbol that shows in the Source that a area has been coded in the dataset and what node it was coded to. I know that I can use the coding stripes to see the data represented on the side. Yet that doesn't actually correlate back to the data to show me what needs to be done. We realized that we were both doing the same things again and we need to make sure that doesn't happen again. I realize that we could report back and forth on wher
  7. Is there a way to just look at one set of codes? I have a node folder with 3 nodes in it. I would like to just look at my data that is coded for those nodes and those nodes only so I can further code it. More details: I have coded how students are sharing their ideas and included the teacher's comments/response when available. I would like to pull just the data that I have coded as students sharing ideas so I can further code how the teacher responded. Is this possible? Thanks.
  8. Hi I have been using Nvivo for a short period of time. I have survey data which I have coded it with Nvivo. However, I have got bid of problem when calculating percentages. I will try to explain it as detailed as possible below. 1) I have got survey, which involved 237 children from various schools. 2) In every question I have got different response rates. 92 children responded to the question in the example I am going to use to present problem. 3) 26 out of 92 children gave irrelevant answers. Therefore, 66 children gave code-able answers. 4) I have coded the answers from those 66 ch
  9. Hi folks, I am switching to NVivo 10 part way through my study and am struggling to adapt my clunky "manual" codes to ones that are better suited to use in qualittive software. For example, my old coding scheme used codes such as these: - participating in class (parent code) ----aids learning (child code) ----waste of time (child code) - presenting in class (parent code) ----aids learning (child code) ----waste of time (child code) I understand from some very helpful forum posts that a cleaner way to code in NVivo would be: - participating in class (parent code) - pres
