Hello everyone, By default text search query tool does not search in annotions. If you need to locate text within your annotations you can use compund query tool. Go to the Explore>Queries>Compound Query. A dialogue box will be displayed, where you will see the fields you will need to complete for 'Subquery 1' and 'Subquery 2'. In both subqueries, keep the default option: 'Text Search Query'. Click the button 'Criteria'' -- That will display another dialogue box to specify the text you want to search for in subquery 1. Then, type the relevant text in the blank field. Click 'Search in' button with a drop-down menu. By default, you will see 'Text'. Change that to 'Annotations' Repete exactly the same steps and text to be searched in 'Subquery 2'. Run your 'compound' query and NVivo will search for your text in Annotations. Regards,

Hello everyone, In your research you might want to perform a text search query to see whether "water" and "environment" word have been mentioned within the proximity of 15 words. To retrieve this, you can use text search query with below criteria: "water environment"~15 However, if you need to find the unique instances of "environment" with the same criteria (i.e. how many times "environment" has been mentioned within 15 words proximity of "water") you would need to use the compound query instead. In this video I tried to demonstrate how to find unique instances of a word in a group text search with compound query tool. I hope this will be helpful. Regards,-

Hello everyone, Nvivo provides you multiple tools to allow you deep dive while analyzing your research data. In this video I try to show how to the utilize compound query tool to refine your text search queries. Let's say you created a word frequency query for the code Attitude>Negative and realized that participants used words like dying, bad, kill, destroy, fading, and decrease. However you might want answer questions like: Where female participants are talking negatively about natural environment related topics, do they use these words or not? The compound query tool allows you to add demographic data level filtration (Gender:Female) for a text search query. If your query has returned interesting content, you may want to save it so you can explore it further. You can save it to a code, static set, or in the Query Results folder. Please note that you can choose how you want to store the results before you run the query—by setting your preferences on the Query Options tab in the Compound Query dialog box. I hope this will be helpful. Regards,-
