  1. Hi all, I've recently lost a project due to a faulty USB-drive. Luckily, I still do have a .nvb-restore-file, but lack a corrupted .nvp-file (that was on that flashdrive...) to start the recovery process. I've found a few topics on this form (such as this one) that provide such a .nvp-file, but as my registration approval has been pending for two days now, I'm trying it here as well. If anybody from QSR could activate my account, or anybody else would be so kind to upload the NVivo 12 .nvp-file from the aforementioned topic to a freely accessible page (Dropbox, WeTransfer, ...), that would be fantastic! Thanks, Bram
  2. It appears that I have a corrupt pdf document in my NVivo project, which I cannot open or delete. When I try to delete the pdf I receive an error message (see attached - 'error report 1'), and when I try to open the pdf, NVivo crashes. This is a problem because one of our team has put significant time into coding an interview transcript in the project, but I am not able merge her work into another project (I get another error - see 'error report 2') which I suspect is because of the problematic pdf. Any tips about what I can do about this would be greatly appreciated!
  3. SO, we have a project. Leo, my co-researcher, opens project.nvp on his machine. It is saved in a shared google drive space. He adds some nodes. It is June 23, 2015 He comes back next day to his machine. He can't open the project.nvp file. The error message says "the project will not open and appears to be corrupt. Nvivo may have been shut down abnormally..." He has no memory of shutting down computer, but we think laptop sleep mode may be the culprit. On June 24, I look at the folder and I see project.nvp with last modified of June 23. I open it and can see all the work down up to the point Leo started adding things. Leo cannot even open this project.nvp file. In other words same file will open on one machine and not on other. I use the "copy project" command to make project 2.nvp. I can open this project. Leo still cannot on his machine. a) Is there a way to avoid loosing work due to the computer going into sleep mode? b ) WHy can't he open the older version or a copy of it? Is there a way to clean up his installation?
  4. I just got back to work on my project and upon loading NV have discovered that my project file is CORRUPTED! After looking through the forums I see this is a common issue with NV, but has no posted solution. Please advise on recovery of my project ASAP, thanks! Also 1 great way of avoiding this issue would be the ability to "SAVE AS" so that one can save their project as they progress. Not only does this allow one to start over (or try different methods) from various stages in the project they also serve as backups and help avoiding a complete restart of the entire project. The ability to also simply make a copy of a file (drag and drop onto USB, like every other program that exists) is essential. Why these options are missing on a program that researchers pour so much time, effort and data into, where we have so much to lose, is beyond me.
