  1. I have tried to export 6 framework matrices, but only 3 were exported successfully. This is the error message that is displayed in a pop up window: see screenshot. How can I fix the issue?
  2. Hi, I'm trying to use the transcription via the Nvivo 12 software download on windows. However its saying "upload failed. please retry." - I have purchased the transcription add-on too Anyone know how to fix this problem? Thankyou!
  3. Hi, I am a new user of NVivo 11. I am importing interview audio and time-stamped transcripts and finding that NVivo is not importing .MP3 audio correctly. The problem (example): I have an interview audio file of 1 hour 15 minutes, saved in .WAV format, with a file size of approximately 500MB. In order to reduce overcrowding on my desktop hard-drive, I compressed the file, converting it to .MP3 format. The new file is approximately 100MB, and still shows '1 hour 15 minutes' in the file>properties>audio panel. When I try importing the original .WAV file into NVivo, the wave-form appears correctly, and the audio track length is correct (at 1 hour 15 minutes). However, when I import the (matching) .MP3 file, the track appears as over 3 hours long - 1 hour 15 minutes of audio plus over 2 hours of silence. Why is this a problem? This means that when I import a time-stamped transcript, the audio and the transcript are no longer synced correctly. Request: Of course I can just go ahead and use the original .WAV files for all of my interviews - however this will quickly become infeasible due to the large file size. Any suggestions about what might be causing NVivo to interpret the .MP3 files incorrectly, or how to solve this issue? Thanks! Chris
  4. Hi Team, I am using autocoding as the first step in my analysis of a range of literature (.pdf Internals), and running the autocoding both within sources from a journal and then across multiple journals to check the consistency of coding and variation between journals. I have 4 journals, each with a number of articles (ranging from 4 to 47 per journal) which totals 100 internals for the analysis across all the journals. All records were exported from Endnote as .xml and then imported to Nvivo through the endnote import functionality, and classified and coded accordingly. I have run the autocoding on the items from 3 of the journals without any issue. With the last journal (Journal of Organisational Change Management), I am getting the following error if I try to autocode all 38 items in the list for this journal: "Unable to identify themes - An error occurred when coding your sources. Please try again.". Having tried several times, it appears there is an issue with one or two of the .pdfs and that Nvivo cannot read and therefore code them, so the whole autocoding stops. I've run the autocoding on all but the items except for the offending 2, and then the coding will complete, so it appears to be an issue with these .pdfs. So in trying to diagnose why this is happening I have: 1. checked the .pdfs are not secure/locked etc in adobe acrobat - correct, no security is applied to them. 2. opened the .pdfs in Nvivo and tried to manually code sections of the text in these documents - yes this is possible and the coding appears in the coding stripes immediately.3. tried to run the autocoding from within the .pdf/internal by opening it, right-click and selecting autocode and then choosing the use existing coding option and selecting the codes created when the autocoding succeeded when these two internals were excluded from the set - the autocoding still fails (all codes in the set come up under "no coding" in the results of analysis list) and then I get an error that says "The autocoding wizard was unable to code the selected source(s) based on existing coding patterns. Make sure that your sources contain text and select nodes that already contain sufficient content coding references to determine new coding". 4. to check if in Nvivo the .pdf are text sources I copied and pasted text from the .pdf internal into my project memo - successful, copy and paste worked, the section appeared correctly in the memo and so would seem to be text. 5. run the autocode on one of the offending sources, using the existing codes from the autocoding of the remainder of the set from that journal, but this time only with the 3 of the 5 top level nodes (which have 160-760 references each coded to them) and none of the child nodes (which have many with less than 10 references coded to them) - coding failed and got same error as in step 4 above. 6. converted the .pdfs to .docx and imported as internals and then repeated 5. above - same result, no coding and same error. 7. ran autocode on entire .pdf data set (ie across all journal items together) - same "unable to identify themes" error resulted. 8. ran autocode on entire .pdf data set less the two offending sources - autocodes fine when the offending two sources are excluded. So by now, I am about out of ideas as to what is going on here, especially because the same happened in the .pdf and the .docx. Appreciate suggestions on what might be wrong with these two .pdfs/internals and what to do about it so I can do the analysis on my full data set. Cheers, Elizabeth G
  5. Hello Group members, I am trying to capture the comments on the YouTube video (using NCapture) with the URL mentioned below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWCebh69Sqg&t=2s The comments keep on retrieving but the process is never completed. You are requested to please look into it and send me the generated sheet. Thank you, Aditya
  6. My institution has access to NVivo 12, but after signing up to use transcription service, I get an error message unable to log in'. How do I fix this as soon as possible?
  7. When setting up the program and my current project, I selected 'automatic saving'. However, the project has stopped to save automatically. I can also not find the option to then save the project manually; as the button to do so cannot be clicked. How can I solve this?
  8. I use Zotero as my ref manager. I am trying to import a series of PDFs into NVivo for OS X to use for a literature review. No matter what format I use to export my selection of articles from Zotero, I cannot import them into NVivo. Half of the time I can't get the software to accept the bibliographic index file. When it does accept the format and the "import assistant" comes up, I get the error: "Import Error: Unable to parse bibliographic data file." Can't start my work without getting these articles into NVivo. Any ideas? Using version 12.5.0 which is the latest.
  9. Hi, I'm very new to using NVivo and I'm having issues using NVivo Transcription. It keeps saying file invalid every time I try to upload. I'm uncertain if this file type is supported by NVivo transcription (WMA) but I've tried other file types and I keep getting the same error. Thank you

  11. When importing PDFs created in NCapture I get what seems to be a random error message saying certain files are invalid. I can't see anything wrong with the file names and they were saved without any trouble. They do often seem to be files which have similar names and are taken from consecutive pages on a forum. Such as "P1 Director Takes the Cake" and then "P2 Director Takes the Cake" won't download even though P1 was imported without issue.
  12. I mistakingly highlighted the text I selected for coding but clicked to code source button rather than code selection. Is there any way to undo this; does NVivo save my selections too? Can you uncode and will it revert to just the text the selection? Any help with this would be of great help. MB.
  13. Hi there, I keep getting error messages when trying to open source documents or run queries in a project with a large number of documents (800). Auto coding was used to conduct a preliminary thematic analysis of the content of the documents, this took about 24 hours run. I have tried using a computer with more RAM (32gb) and reducing the number of source documents included in the query (have tried 800 docs, 400 docs, 200 docs), this did not make a difference. See below an example of the error messages that I get. Looking forward to your responses. Kind regards, Roel Extract example 1: Error Message: Error finding business objects by sql SELECT Id, Node_Item_Id, Source_Item_Id, CompoundSourceRegion_Id, ReferenceTypeId, StartZ, StartX, StartY, LengthX, LengthY, ClusterId, CreatedDate, ModifiedDate, CreatedBy, ModifiedBy, OfX FROM NodeReference WHERE Node_Item_Id in ('4e8ff50b-1723-424d-b6d5-1b1801232375', '4424de89-a698-4663-9bd5-1b18012584a2', '34aef30f-dcc3-4233-a9d5-1b180127e607', 'b5eadc6e-5e28-4541-8cd5-1b180127e60b',..... ...... 15. I just got back to work on my project and upon loading NV have discovered that my project file is CORRUPTED! After looking through the forums I see this is a common issue with NV, but has no posted solution. Please advise on recovery of my project ASAP, thanks! Also 1 great way of avoiding this issue would be the ability to "SAVE AS" so that one can save their project as they progress. Not only does this allow one to start over (or try different methods) from various stages in the project they also serve as backups and help avoiding a complete restart of the entire project. The ability to also simply make a copy of a file (drag and drop onto USB, like every other program that exists) is essential. Why these options are missing on a program that researchers pour so much time, effort and data into, where we have so much to lose, is beyond me.
