  1. Hi. Thanks for taking a look at my post first : ) Still the new users of NVivo 10 for Windows here with millions of questions. Recently I was asked to import and code different types of data in one project (Interview transcripts, answers to open ended questions in surveys, students' essays, webpages, etc.). I am not sure whether this is the correct or appropriate way to do coding. 1. Are there anything I need to be careful with when coding different types of data in the same project? Also, 2. should there be a limitation for the number of nodes? I already have around 50 nodes after a first round coding focused on only one topic. When looking for a certain node, it was very time consuming. In other words, should I use NVivo for very specific/detailed analysis? Looking forward to your experience sharing and reply. Thank you.
  2. Hi, I am a new user of NVivo 10 for windows. I want to use Nvivo for qualitative analysis of around 30 interview transcripts. Most of these interviews are focus group/ multi-interviewee interviews with around 10 questions and some of the interviewees attended more than one interview. After the analysis, I may want to retrieve all of the responses from the male(female) or active(less active) interviewees for a certain question. In a transcript with 3 interviewees, how can I differentiate the interviewees in accordance with their identities (e.g., gender, level of activity, etc). Any suggestions? I read about case nodes and autocoding, but the transcripts are not formatted with “headings”. Would it still be possible for me to use “Attributes/values” in classification? If it is possible, can I retrieve the references mentioned above (with identities/attributes)? In short, how should I deal with focus group interview transcripts if I want to differentiate the identities of each interviewees in the same interview transcripts. Looking forward for your advice. Thank you.
  3. Hello, I have both the original digital recording and the typed-up transcript of the recording as a PDF format. Both are separate files. What I am wanting to do is create a link between the two files. This is not for analysis, just for housekeeping. Is this possible? If so, could you please provide me with some guidance? Cheers! Darren
  4. Hi, I have recently imported a number of audio files and interview transcripts into NVivo 10. The interview transcripts are all Microsoft Word documents. I can code the transcripts with no issues whatsoever. But I was listening to an interview and noticed a mistake in the transcription, I was able to click edit and select the word to delete it, however, I could not add any text to the transcript. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I need the transcripts to be fully editable within NVivo. Kind regards, Mitch
