Was working in Nvivo 11 Plus on a project. Saved and closed project. Underneath was a frozen intro screen (the one where you can then open a recent projects or browse to one.) Couldn't exit from it, so I went into Task Manager and stopped it there. Rebooted machine. Now I cannot open my project (but other projects open just fine.) The full error message I get is below. Any ideas on what I can do to get back into my project? Error Message: An item with the same key has already been added. I have a project which is a longitudinal study of a set of respondents. I want to upload new data from each respondent each week using an excel spreadsheet. N-Vivo treats each spreadsheet as a separate dataset. So, my project will contain several datasets (spreadsheets). I want to autocode the new data, using the coding from the previous week to guide the recognition engine. From reading the help files, it appears that autocoding only occurs within a dataset, not within a project. Is that correct? Does this mean the software only recognises text on the basis of codes within that dataset (e.g. spreadsheet) or does the software recognise codes based on text in all the datasets in the project? I am using N-vivo 11 plus. I can upgrade if that would make a difference.

I am running a team project in which some of the people coding the data use Macintosh machines, but the main database has to be in NVivo Plus for Windows (so we can machine-code the data). The University has a site licence for NVivo Pro. Do I have any options for running the project other than installing a Windows virtual machine on each of the Mac's?

Our university has a site license for Nvivo Pro, and I have an individual licence for NVivo 11 Plus. Are there any problems with having a group project where some people work using Nvivo12 pro and others use Nvivo 11 plus on the same data? Just to confirm, the Nvivo Pro users would be able to see the autocoding done by Nvivo Plus? Thanks.

I have a spreadsheet of student reflections. Each row contains a set of classifiers (names, week #, etc), and a written reflection by each student, along with peer feedback, marker feedback, and so forth. There are ten rows (and ten reflections) per student. I have a second spreadsheet that contains student marks. There is one row per student with one column per week. I would like to marry to the two datasets. Ideally, I'd map individual columns of the marks spreadsheet (marks for each reflection) to the relevant row of the reflections spreadsheet. However, failing that, I'd like to map an average mark to all ten rows. I would prefer to do the mapping inside N-Vivo if possible. That would allow me to analyse text before it is marked, import marks as they become available, etc. I presume you do this by making a case for each student-week, or a case for each student. I can't work out how to do it beyond that. Can you give me some guidance? Additional points: - There are two spreadsheets, each of which has ~800 records. However, I want to do this exercise every semester for the next five years or so, and there are likely to be more than two classes per semester in future. Consequently, I'd like to do this as automatically as possible. - I'm in Melbourne, so can meet to discuss with you if that's easier.

I have data from two separate, but somewhat related, studies. I want to code my responses from them in a single NVivo file, in order to look for similarities across them where they overlap. In that case, would I be able to filter my coding by source, either in the node listing or by running a report? In other words, I want to be able to see the coding for responses to survey A only, survey B only, or both surveys combined. I'm using NVivo Plus 11 for Windows. Thanks in advance! Sharon

Hi Team, I have many references with both endnote bibliographic data and associated .pdfs. I have been trying to import both together through the Data/FromOtherSources/Endnote wizard, and I think I am following the instructions/set up correctly from here: http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/procedures/exchange_data_between_nvivo_and_reference_management_tools.htm?rhsearch=endnote&rhsyns=%20#Understand_how_files_associated_with_references_are_handled and here: http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/concepts/about_document_and_pdf_sources.htm. I have also checked the Endnote file location so these should be accessible but there's a possibility this is still not right. It is important to my research that the attributes from the bibliographic data are attached to the external reference as well as the pdf so I can see how the issues and arguments in the field have developed over time. Advice appreciated, I think/hope this is something simple I've missed as it looks like this is what the wizard is set up to do. Cheers, Elizabeth G P1 EN w Att Test.xml
