In nvivo 9, I imported the other coder's project into my project to run an initial coding comparison query. Both our coding was on two transcripts and I selected either coding a family node and then just coding a child node. Each time Nvivo crashes without running the query. Since this project is in its early stage of coding, I need to make sure as the file grows that I can run a coding comparison query at any size. thanks!

Having spent periods of time coding and moving between machines, I find that I am 'lucky' when I can get the database to load. i have had problems with the sql server which has been reloaded a couple of times now I am getting bored and frustrated. Now work that I have been doing again will not load. yet the copy made half an hour previously will (without the flurry of coding) . The symptoms are: NVivo just shuts itself down, no warnings. It is random and you never know which version of the file will do this. it is always when you try to load a file. I am getting scared growing the project in this software if it is going to continually crash. Am I alone in experiencing this? This is not a large project which i read in the forums is problematic. It is getting hard to sustain work in this software if i keep having to reload the full package everytime it breaks (i.e after every shut down). QSR can you help? My University will require me to move to a competitors software if I do not sort these bugs out as we are losing days of work at a time. Sorry to be complaining but this is unbearable. i really do expect to open up my machine and start working of a day, not having an hour or two battle, just to get started. many thanks Paul gD

I have been importing large quanties of documents, such as emails, letters, reports, etc. and I need to classify them by date so that I can see how content changes over time. Most of these documents already have the date stated somewhere in the document. Is there some easy way to organize and classify these items without having to manually enter the date in the source classification sheet for each document?
