  1. Hello, I'm a new Nvivo user. I have imported a number of interviews. My cases are established, I have 1 case for each person interviewed. Interviews are mostly semi structured. My interview document structure is generally something like this: Mr B (Interviewer): Why did you return to....? Mr C (Participant): Because....... Mr B (interviewer): What's that been like...? etc I'd like to code just the participant responses, not the questions. Ideally I'd like to auto code this rather than go through and select each paragraph manually and then code them. However, the documents are not style formatted, although they're organised in paragraphs and there's a clear heading before the text of interest (eg. Mr C (participant): indicates any text that follows belongs to that case). My questions are: 1. Can I auto code this? If so, how? 2. If not, what about using range codes? With range codes, how do I show paragraph or line numbers? Thanks for any advice.
  2. Is it possible to set up keyboard shortcuts in Nvivo 11? The list of predefined ones is fairly limited, they are shown here: http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/procedures/keyboard_shortcuts.htm
  3. Help! I am using my new Nvivo 12 now, but found that my Nvivo 11 project files cannot be open in Nvivo 12, and the name of the file is .nvb now. Can anyone help? Thank you so much!
  4. I'd like to change a child node to a parent node, taking the references along. Drag and drop doesn't seem to function for me.
  5. When I'm reading my pdf sources and coding them, the highlight color is not the same as the color for the node I've applied. They all come out yellow even though I have a coding scheme using 6 different colors. How do I make the highlighting match? If Nvivo can't do that, is it possible for nvivo to launch and external pdf editor and then reflect the changes upon save? I use the color aspect of nodes extensively but need the pdf highlighting to reflect that. Thanks!
  6. Hi, I'm giving a training on NVivo 11 next Monday and Tuesday, and one participant would like to see Survey Monkey in action in NVivo. I've never worked with Survey Monkey and don't see any example in the Sample Project. Does anyone have an example of Survey Monkey table to be used during my training as an example? Thanks for your contribution!
  7. I was able to add custom fields into my projects while I was using Nvivo 11 for Windows ( However, with the Service Pack 1 (, added fields do not appear on transcript window. I do not know anyone else has experienced the same issue, but I think there is a bug with the latest service pack update.
