Hi,

I'm trying to install nvivo10 on windows 8. It is crashing trying to install the microsoft sql servers. I attempted to download the indicated two SQL files from microsoft, which indicated these are not compatible with Windows 8. I have tried this multiple times (uninstalling/redownloading/reinstalling), each time with exactly the same result.

Cheers

Deb

Hi Deborah,

I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues installing NVivo 10 on Windows 8. For hints on how to do this please refer to the link below:

https://www.qsrinternational.com/support_faqs_detail.aspx?view=1373

If you are still unable to resolve this issue can you please fill out a contact support form and attach the following information to your email for further investigation.

1. NVivo error logs that have been generated by the software. NVivo error logs are usually located in your (My) Documents folder and are named like err<date>T<time>.log’.

2. Please locate the ‘LOG’ following at the following location:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\

Note: If you are unable to find the LOG folder in the above location, please look for the following folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\

3. Zip up the LOG folder (Right mouse click on LOG, select Send To -> Compressed (Zipped) folder)

4. Also provide the information about your machine:

a. From the Start screen, start typing MSINFO32 and click on the MSINFO32 search result displayed

b. In the System information screen, click on File > Save and save the file to your desktop as info.nfo

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Gaelan
