Importing existing audio transcripts as .txt files.

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Whenever I load a .txt file as a transcription of an audio recording, several characters such as apostrophes, inverted commas and ellipses are replaced by other non-standard characters. While I can go through the interview transcript in Nvivo and edit all the substitutions, it would be good to know why this was happening and if there was anyway of preventing it?

I have attached a small screen-grab of the strangeness in action.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Smiloid,

That does seem a bit strange. Would you be able to send me one of the txt files you are trying to import so I can replicate the issue? You can send it as a message or fill out our support form at http://www.qsrinternational.com/support_contact-support.aspx to get it to me.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers,

Simon

Thanks a lot for your response.

I pasted the transcription into the body of a message and also submitted a form with the .txt file attached.

Fingers crossed.
