Applying attributes to Nodes

Recommended Posts

I have a number of events identified (and coded as nodes) that I need to place along a number of dimensions. There doesn't seem to be a way to apply node classifications/attributes using NVivo11. Can anyone please suggest a flexible solution/approach to doing this using NVivo. I'm sure this have been thought of by QSR, so there must be another, better way.

Hi Tim,

Classified nodes have become case nodes in NVivo 11. These nodes are located in the Cases folder of your NVivo project and are classified in a similar way to nodes in NVivo 10.

As you’ve already created your nodes the easiest way to transform them into case nodes would be to cut or copy your nodes from their existing location in your node hierarchy and then paste them into the Cases folder. You can find some instructions on doing this at the following link http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/procedures/reorder_and_refine_nodes.htm?#MiniTOCBookMark4

You can then go ahead and classify these cases and add the relevant attribute values. You can either do this manually or you can speed up this process by importing a case classification sheet. You can find details on both approaches at the following link http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/procedures/classify_cases_(set_attribute_values_to_record_information).htm
