List/Chart of Nodes for a Group of Sources

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have tried to find an answer to my query and have found a number of things similar to what I am looking for, but not quite the answer, so I am hoping someone might be able to help with my specific problem?

I have used Nvivo to generate nodes across 91 academic papers. I can see which papers (sources) are related to which nodes, and by using the chart function, I can see all nodes that appear in a single source. However, I would like to see which nodes appear in a group of sources i.e. papers with the same academic background, which I can manually group/select. Ideally, I would like to be able to generate the same kind of chart that I have done for a single source, but for a group of sources - is this possible?

The chart is not necessary though, so if there is a way to just generate a list of all nodes within a group of papers, that would be fine too (preferably with the percentage coverage included though).

I hope that makes sense, but please do ask for more info if it is not clear.

Hello Phil,

You may run a Group query in NVivo 11 to find nodes that are associated with the specific sources in your project. Please refer to the below help link for more information:

You can also add the desired sources into a search folder to be set as the scope of a query. See: http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/concepts/about_collections.htm#MiniTOCBookMark4

You may also consider creating source classifications in your NVivo project: http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/concepts/about_classifications.htm and then chart the coding by attribute value for multiple sources: http://help-nv11.qsrinternational.com/desktop/concepts/about_charts.htm#MiniTOCBookMark3

I hope this helps.
