Classification guide for data analysis

Recommended Posts

I would like to be able to understand my coded day in regard to gender and age. I think I understand how to set up a classification guide. I have survey data in an excel sheet already. I am unsure if the classification guide that I bring in from excel also has the data in it that I'm coding or if I have to separate that? I watched a video that indicated I would have to connect the data I am coding to every case? Then, I do not understand how to sort the nodes by gender, etc. (by a case) when I am done coding. Thank you!

Hi Cosette, You can import your Excel survey results right into NVivo with the survey wizard it will create cases for each respondent and attach case classifications and attributes to each respondent based on the closed ended questions in the survey. The open ended questions will come in as codes. You want your respondents in the first column of the survey that makes it easier to import into NVivo.
