Ncapture and private facebook group

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Is it still possible to obtain a dataset from a private facebook group using ncapture and nvivo? And if so, how can I do this?  I just started using nvivo and ncapture for the first time for my master thesis, and I only manage to get a dataset from facebook (fan)pages and not from facebook groups (public and private). In addition, I am also unable to capture individual posts from the facebook group as a PDF,  I always get this error message: "Error!Unable to isolate an article on this page. You can capture the web page as PDF". But if i try to capture the webpage as PFD , I only get a vague and partial representation of the original facebook content when I import it into nvivo. I don't see how I could use this to do a content analysis of facebook posts in a group with over 33,000 members and over 30 posts a day...

Anyone who can help me out or has some advice?

Thank you very much in advance!

Kind regards

Hi Faber, please refer to this link for help with NCapture: https://help-nv.qsrinternational.com/20/win/Content/ncapture/ncapture.htm#

To capture datasets from a group, a Facebook group admin must add the 'NCapture for NVivo' app to the group in the Facebook group settings.  Note that when capturing datasets, NCapture relies on Facebook on the number of posts that it can retrieve.

Please also try using the web browser's Print to PDF function and see if you are able to capture the Facebook page.

Can you also send us the link to the Facebook page that you are trying to capture so that we can investigate the error message? Contact us here: https://support.qsrinternational.com/nvivo/s/
