Sorting references chronologically within each node

Recommended Posts

Within each node that I am coding data to, I would like to be able to review the references I have coded in the order that the files I am coding from were produced, so that I can see the reference chronologically when on the 'reference' tab. I coded everything in chronological order, in the hope that the references would be listed in the order I coded them in, but while this sometimes seems to be the case, other times they seem to be in a fairly random order.

I have also assigned each file an attribute value which is an integer of the year it was produced. I was hoping that I might be able to sort the references using this but I can't find a way to do it.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hello @HannahW,

Currently sorting by creation date feature works in list view only.

Also, a file attribute value of creation year will represent the whole file. Currently it is not possible to assign attribute value to a single coding reference.

Please submit a feature request from here: https://nvivo.canny.io/

Regards,

Hi HannahW, there isn’t a direct way to do this but if you rename each source with the date at the start, e.g 20180806_ArticleName, the Detail View would show the references in ascending order according to folder level and name and then by file name.
